Yes. The University is very strict about following the published deadlines. Applications can only be made within the stipulated timelines provided here.
Is there any way I can check the status of my application?
The University Office of the Registrar informs applicants about the status of their application(s). Beginning with the 2016 academic year, applicants will be able to follow the status of their application after having applied online for their chosen programme.
What undergraduate programmes are offered by AKU?
Undergraduate programmes in nursing, midwifery and medicine are offered. Detailed programme information can be accessed through programme pages listed here.
Does AKU in Pakistan offer a Diploma programme in Nursing?
No, the last intake was in 2010.
Is the part-time study option available for undergraduate or graduate programmes?
A part-time study option is available for all AKU graduate programmes. The Post-RN BScN programme is the only undergraduate programme that is offered part time.
Do any of the AKU programmes have an age limit?
Age limits for any programme at AKU are linked to statutory requirements. For example, the University must conform with the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC). PNC requires male and female applicants to be between the ages of 18 and 30 at the time of programme commencement.
There are no statutory age limit requirements for any other programme at AKU.
What requirements do I need to meet in order to apply to the Nursing / MBBS programme?
Completion of 12 years of education is required to apply to all undergraduate programmes. Each of our programmes has specific eligibility requirements.

No, AKU does not accept students in advanced standing in these programmes.
Yes, AKU is accredited by both the PNC and the PMDC.
Is AKU recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC)?
Yes, AKU is recognized by the HEC.
I applied last year but was not admitted. May I apply again?
Yes. Candidates may apply to the programmes in School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Diploma in Dental Hygiene in the Medical College and programmes at the Institute for Educational Development, as many times as they like. However, for the MBBS programme, candidates may only apply thrice.
What is IBCC equivalence certificate and why it is needed?
The Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) is a regulatory body that equates student high school qualifications. Obtaining these equivalences is a mandatory statutory requirement without which selected students cannot be registered with the relevant regulatory bodies. Information about obtaining equivalences is available on the IBCC website.
Who should apply for IBCC equivalence certificate and from where?
Candidates who follow systems of education other than the Pakistani system of Education are required to obtain equivalences for their qualifications. IBCC offices are located in Karachi and Islamabad. For details, please visit IBCC website.
Can I apply to multiple programmes?
Yes you may if you meet the eligibility requirements.
What are the tuition fees for the current academic year?

Does AKU provide financial assistance such as student loans, scholarships or sponsorships?
Yes. The university offers financial assistance to students who are selected to AKU programmes but are unable to pay for the cost of education. Details about these are available here. You may also email at student.fa@aku.edu for additional details.
Does AKU accept sponsorships from outside agencies?
Students who are sponsored to attend educational programmes may apply to AKU. However all such candidates would be required to compete for a place in their programme of choice at the Aga Khan University. Sponsorships are not linked to admissions.
Does AKU provide hostel facility for the applicants applying from outside Karachi?
The University operates on-campus and off-campus hostels; separate for male and female students. These hostels accommodate students who do not have a place to stay in Karachi.
