What is TIA or Transient Ischemic Attack ? Symptoms, Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment

A Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) is a Transient episode of Neurologic dysfunction caused by blood loss ( Loss of Blood flow). TIA is mostly resolved in 24 hours.

Symptoms of TIA

The symptoms of TIA ( Transient Ischemic Attack) mostly resembles to those of full stroke but its duration remains for half or an hour ( short duration). Patient completely recovers within 24 hours. The symptoms shown are below:

  • Paralysis of one side of body
  • Tongue paralysis
  • Difficulty in Speaking
  • Half face weakness

Never ignore these symptoms as these leads full stroke.

Factors Influencing TIA

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Diseases
  • Excessive Fat
  • Arrythmia
  • Genetic influence
  • Factor increases after age 55

Diagnosis of Transient Ischemic Attack

  • Complete Check by Physician
  • Blood Test
  • CT Scan , MRI , ECG
  • Special ultrasound of Veins of Neck

Prevention and Treatment

  • Proper treatment of Blood Pressure, Fat and Heart Diseases
  • Proper Nutrional Diet and Walking
  • Doctor can prescribe Aspirin and some other medicine
