UET Lahore 21st Convocation 2015 News and Photos

3715 students awarded degrees at the 21st UET Convocation, March 24, 2015

The 21st convocation of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) held at its premises on Tuesday and 3715 students were awarded degrees while distinguished 114 students got gold medals.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed was the guest of honor and UET Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid participated as chief guest on the behalf of Governor Punjab/ Chancellor of the university in the convocation. On the occasion, deans including Dr Abdul Sattar Shakir, Dr Fiaz Shah, Dr Nadeem Feroz and Dr Ghulam Abbas, other faculty members of UET, alumni and large number of students were present also present.
In the convocation the university has awarded degrees 37 PhD, 89 M.Phil, 255 MSC and 334 bachelors students moreover 1639 graduates have been already collected their degrees.
Addressing with the participations of the convocation, UET VC Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid said “We know that higher education is critical for nation building and the UET in the last century has played a major role in the national development and demonstrated significant progress in promotion of engineering education and research”. He said that Federal and Punjab government is also supporting in all fields of education especially in research projects which is good step by them.
He said that UET has promoted the linkage between university and industry for fill the gaps which have been generated and creating hurdles for students. He said ‘We successfully collaborating with Chinese technology companies and set up joint training facilities at UET like Huwaei, ZTE and Supcon which coast of Rs 700 million added that this is a result of Pak-China friendship”.

He also said that enrollment has increased over the year but the universities are still confronted with the challenges of capacity building, infrastructure and quality.
On the occasion, HEC chairman Dr Mukhtar said “It’s notable that Pakistan has produced around 4000 PhD students after getting independence, but UET have produced 37 PhD’s in this session which is a big achievements of UET and credit goes to institution and their professors. He urged that everyone should take responsibilities and participate in the development of country. He further said “Hardwork should not only for himself but for the people of society, especially Pakistan because we are suffering many problems and we try to solve the issues like poverty, electricity and terrorism. He expressing their view said that Inshallah, students of UET will deliver output in their future fields and bright the name of institution and country.
He said “I believe that UET is playing vital role in academia filed and in which result UET is including in the best universities of Asia”. He has congratulated the passed out students and their parents. Nations cannot get the progress without giving the respect of elders including teachers and parents also, he added.
At the end, UET VC Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid also presented souvenir shield to HEC Chairman Prof Dr Mukhtar.
