Karachi Medical & Dental College

KMDC is affiliated with Karachi University. It offers a five-year undergraduate programme leading to the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) and a four year undergraduate program leading to the degree of BDS. The programme is designed to equip students with appropriate knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and behaviour necessary to understand and influence factors that affect the health of individuals and communities. KMDC attaches great emphasis to the professional, personal and intellectual development of students, so that its medical graduates become contributory members and leaders of society. KMDC MBBS & BDS programmes of study maintains high quality and flexibility that allows students to develop more broadly and function effectively. The MBBS and BDS curriculum incorporates current evidence-based medical education concepts.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR OPEN MERIT/SELF-FINANCE/ FOREIGNERS/OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR OPEN MERIT/SELF-FINANCE
  • Candidates who have passed intermediate (science) Pre-Medical group Annual Examination of 2013 and have secured at least 60 % marks.
  • Candidates who have passed 2013 a level & 12th grade examination ( American School ) with English, Biology, Chemistry and  Physics from Karachi centre provided equivalence certificate of unadjusted 60% marks is obtained according to formula laid down by the I.B.B.C, Islamabad. They also have to obtain equivalence for “O” level/ 10th grade from I.B.B.C, Islamabad.
  • Candidates should have passed last two examinations (Matriculation & Intermediate, “O” level & “A” level and 10th & 12th grade ) from the Karachi centre / Board. Candidates  having passed the above mentioned examinations at the centres located outside Pakistan through Federal Board, will be accepted.
  • The candidates who have appeared in the intermediate  science examination 2013 for an improvement are eligible to apply only if they have improve the grade / Percentage of marks. The proof to that effect is mandatory and 5 marks will be deducted or each attempt.
  • Domicile & P.R.C of Karachi.
  • If the candidate’s are parents employee and the candidate has passed his/her any one examination other than Karachi Board, he/she will be eligible provided his or her parent’s deputation letter from the respective department’s obtained.
  • Written aptitude test will help to select the candidates. The test will consist of MCQs from Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English at part to H. Sc examination.
  • The weightage of marks for determination of merit will be calculated as under.

Entry test 50%             H. Sc 40 %            S.S.C. 10%

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR FOREIGNERS/OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS
  • The candidate should have passed Matric / “O” level  / Equivalent examination from an institution outside Pakistan.
  • The candidate should have passed Intermediate (Science) / “A” level/ Equivalence examination from an institution outside Pakistan. The candidate must have passed  Biology, Chemistry and Physics / Maths in “A” Level /equivalence examination.
  • The candidate should have I.B.B.C equivalence certificate, if examination passed other than Matric and Intermediate  (science) OR they have to submit SAT II ( science subjects) score of minimum 550.
  • Those Pakistani national student and Foreigners who have obtained the required education for the Entry Test from Board shell be eligible to appear in test if they have passed three science subjects out which two have to be Biology and Chemistry.
  • The Candidates having minimum SAT II score 550 marks shell be exempted from the Entry test and shall be required to appear only in the interview. TOFEL or IELT score of 500 0r 5.5 shall be require from   student who have obtained their require qualification from those institutions where the medium of instruction for these qualification is not English .an alternate to TOFEL and IETLTS is a certificate by NUML Islamabad after a one year English Language course.
  • If the candidate have passed above mentioned examinations from Pakistan but his/her father/guardian is working abroad (Documentary proof needed).Father’s/Guardian’s CNIC from NADRA issued as overseas as Pakistani. He/she can apply as overseas candidate .
  • The selection and metric criteria for overseas candidates will be the marks of I.B.B.C equivalence or SAT II score (equated with I.B.B.C formula)
  • After verification of documents and allocation o seat , bank draft of USS 12,000 in favour of KARACHI MEDICAL AND DENTAL COLLEGE is to be submitted along with the original documents as fee of fist year.

APPLYING AT KMDC

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

The documents that need to be submitted with application form for the categories of Open Merit and Self-Finance are as follows:

• National Identity card of the candidate from NADRA of Karachi with permanent address of Karachi f he/she is above 18 years or “B” form if he/she below 18 years of age is essential.
• N.I.C of Father from NADRA with permanent address of Karachi.
• H.S.C marks sheet.
• Previous H.S.C marks sheet (in case of improvement).
• S.S.C Marks sheet.
• S.S.C certificate.
• Candidate’s Domicile & PRC of Karachi.
• Father’s Domicile of Karachi.
• The Domicile Certificate of mother (Karachi) shall only be accepted in case where father has expired (and no domicile certificate was issued to him )or there has been remarriage/separation, for which a valid document is needed.
• If the candidate’s are parents employee and the candidate has passed his/her any one examination other than Karachi Board, he/she will be eligible provided his or her parent’s deputation letter from the respective department’s obtained.
• Acknowledgement receipt of document submitted in any other institution for the admission purpose.
• Six recent size photographs. one pasted on application form ( without attestation), two on admit cards(without attestation) and other three photographs attested from the back enclosed with the application form.
• Undertaking form candidates regarding original documents on stamp paper duly attested by Oath Commissioners is enclosed with entrance test form on payment f Rs.50/-.
• Only the candidate submit Entrance test Form.
• Candidate who have passed 2013 “A” level & 12th grade examination(American School)with English , Biology, Chemistry and Physics from Karachi Centre may apply, provided equivalence certificate of unadjusted 60% marks is obtained according to formula laid down by I.B.C.C. (Inter Board Chairman Committee), Islamabad. They will also have to obtain equivalence for “O” level and 1oth grade from I.B.C.C.
• Two self-addressed envelopes (4.5 x 8.5 inches) with postage stamp affixed.
• Receipts of submitting any pertinent document including domicile, P.R.C or CNIC shall not be accepted.
• Attested copies of documents will only be accepted.

APTITUDE TEST

Written aptitude test will help to select the candidates. The test will consist of MCQs from Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English at part to H. Sc examination. The weightage of marks for Entry test is 50%.

INTERVIEWS

Candidate will be Finally selected after interview by the Admission Committee of KMDC on the basis of merit list. Candidates are required to produce and submit their original document at that time.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION

All selected candidates will be examined by the Medical Board of KMDC before submitting fees. The minimum time period for medical examination will be three days from the date of interview.

FEES SUBMISSION

The time period for the submission of fees is 07 days from the date of submission of medical fitness letter in KMDC.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• The issuance & submission of from is no guarantee for admission until the final selection of student and submission of original documents with required amount of fee.
• National Identity card of the candidate from NADRA of Karachi with permanent address of Karachi if he/she is above 18 years or “B” form of he/she is below 18 years of age is essential.
• The Domicile Certificate of mother (Karachi) shall only be accepted in case where father has expired (and no domicile certificate was issued to him )or there has been remarriage/separation, for which a valid document is needed.
• Bank Guarantee of one year for MBBS, & one year for BDS is mandatory for confirmation of admission on self-finance seats. Otherwise next on merit as per merit list will be offered for admission on self- finance in KMDC.
• No candidate will allow to appear in Entry test without the Admit Card.
• All male and female candidates will only be allowed to appear in the Entry Test after being identified with complete face exposure by authorized persons.
• Attested copies of documents will be accepted affidavit regarding original document at the time of submission of form .
• Receipts of submitting any pertinent document including domicile, PRC or NIC SHALL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
• The college does not provide any special preparation and has not authorized any institution for preparatory classes for test.
• Entrance Test from should be submitted by the candidate only.
• Strictly no personal contacts.

The Batches of both M.B.B.S and BDS for the matriculation year 2014 have been successfully enrolled. The dates for the intake of next batch (2014/2015) will be announced in early August 2014.
